IDS 10.00.UC7 crashing periodically

I have an instance of IDS 10.00.UC7 running on Linux RHE 4.0 Update 6
which is hosted on Vmware ESX.
Periodically the host OS (RHE 4.0 Update 6) is killing an oninit
process because the server has run out of memory.
Has anyone seen anything like this before.
Thanks
Peter
Yes, I have now seen it at two clients' sites. Look up information on the
OOM-killer (Out-of-Memory process killer). It is part of the linux kernel
that kills processes that are using lots of memory if the amount of free LOW
address (below 1MB - as in old DOS memory) gets too low. There is a kernel
tunable to raise the limit and a way to turn it off (don't remember the
details but you can find it by searching the web). Another option would be
to switch to a 64bit IDS version which is NOT subject to the OOM-Killer's
predations.
