RE: Eror Starting SE Engine (unnamed pipes)

What about the INFORMIXSERVER environment variable. If you do not use
it your dbaccess or your application will not be able to attach to a database
server.

Subject: Eror Starting SE Engine (unnamed pipes)
I'm in the process of implementing Informix Standard Engine V 7.12.UC1 on
an SCO OS v5 computer.
I've successfully started the SE engine using the TLI interface and TCP
protocol. But this has proven to be rather slow on the local machine so I
decided to start a local engine using ipc interface and unnamed pipes.
When I try to start the local server I get the following entries/error in
my log file. The error description (25592) indicates that "the network
service is not available" on either the operating system or the database
server. I know that pipes are set up on the system, so I assume that
something must be done to the Informix SE in order to allow it to use
unnamed pipes. Can anyone verify this and tell me how to update the SE
configuration to allow this? I don't have any SE administrators guide:
>> 1997-07-12 09:47:26.250000 Starting Daemon INFORMIX-SQL Version
7.12.UC1
>> Command Line = ./sqlexecd local_se -l dytst.log
>> INFORMIXDIR = /usr/v7informix
>> dbservername = local_se
>> nettype = seipcpip
>> hostname = eisinc
>> servicename = sqlexec
>> options =
>> 1997-07-12 09:47:26.490000 daemon err = -25592: Communications
service not supported by network driver.
My sqlhosts file looks like this:
>> eisinc_se setlitcp eisinc eisinc_service
>> local_se seipcpip eisinc sqlexec
