Re: Dbexport / Dbimport Utility

Have you tried running the oncheck/bcheck utility against the table(s) to ensure that you do not have corrupt indexes?
Try an update statistics through sql first also.

Has anyone a better utility then the dbexport / dbimport utilities that come
with informix?
If I run dbimport using redhat 6.1 IDS 2000 I keep getting Unknown error 0
Data Corrupt.
But, if I run the same procedures ... in dbaccess such as create the table,
load the data, create indexes ...etc ... it works!
Not sure what is going on here ... considering I am working with an ASCII
text export.
If not I will make one ... for everyone ... and I will post it here ... give
me a couple of weeks.
Thanks in advance.

No,
Like I was saying that ... I was more than capable of creating the tables,
indexes and so forth through dbaccess... which I know is separate from the
dbexport utility but follows the same sort of principle.
The problem was noted in Murray's posting to this message in that I had a
miscalculated value from the export which was causing the problems. I had
figured out this problem ... after sending the posting. I appreciate the
help.
In most cases ... before I export a database .. I always ensure to run
update stats. and run a few oncheck utilities to verify my database before
export.
The export went cleanly however their was an incorrect value for the # of
rows that was counted for that table.
Again, thanks for the help.

I have a little shell script that unloads all of the data and creates a load
script that I use in conjunction with a couple of other scripts that strip
out the indexes from the schema.
I run the unload script, get a schema, run the strip indexes script against
the schema. create the database without the indexes, load the data and then
create the indexes. I have used it with some success. If you want it I can
can dig it up and send it to you. I think it is customized to my
environment but it could be modified to suit you r needs.

Before you buy.
Sure ....
I am working on John Stephenson's program ... to spruce it up a bit more.
let me check it out as I am building a fresh dbimport dbexport utilty to
customize what John has done ... and possibly what you have come up with.
I will post it after the new year once I have it complete. I am also looking
at converting the program the dbexport/dbimport to gui with modular moves to
different servers ... as I do this quite often to test servers ... and the
like ... and as well keeping good copies of databases. If anyone is
interested in helping ... I could use the help. I am developing under the
linux jdk port using Kde.
