Hi, Tsutomu;
Thank you for your kind help.
The transaction log is '/tmp/syslog'. I did your way and also tried
copying it from another server. It doesn't work.

Hi Hao.
Here is my test the fllowing command.
1. dbaccessdemo5 ogi
2. start database ogi with in "/tmp/syslog".
3. run query "delete from state"
4. rm /tmp/syslog
5. dbaccess -> D/Database -> S/Select -> ogi
get the folloing message.
224: Cannot open transaction log file.
120: ISAM error: cannot open log file.
6. cp /dev/null /tmp/syslog or
touch /tmp/syslog
7. dbaccess -> D/Database -> S/Select -> ogi
run correctly.

Tsutomu's suggestion is basically correct.
Check that the permissions on the file are correct (660, group
informix).
Also, on many systems, /tmp is cleared on reboot -- all files are
deleted. This is not a good place to put a database transaction log; if
the machine crashes, you want that transaction log!

Hi, Jonathan;
Thank you for your Informix DBD. It works great!
Tsutomu was right. The log file is called 'dblog' instead of 'syslog'
as I thought.
We fixed SE problem. However, the IDS, which runs on the same machine,
still hangs after executing dbaccess. Any hints?
Thanks - Randy
