oninit failed on my linux box

Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.UC7 ( on RedHat 6.2 : uname -a output: "Linux myhostname 2.2.14-5.0 #1") I installed IDS on Linux and it's running OK using shared memory connection. When I added a DBSERVERALIAS to support tcp connection oninit failed with the following error: oninit: Fatal error in initializing ASF with 'ASF_INIT_DATA' flags; asfcode = '25507'. If I comment out the DBSERVERALIAS line it will work again. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Carl Wu

Which protocol is supported in your platform, tlitcp or soctcp? You can find out the information from the release. I think the error is caused by wrong tcp/ip protocol. I know that tli is supported in Solaris and soc is supported in AIX. But I don't know which one is supported in Linux. h. I put in "ontlitcp" in sqlhosts without thought, will try "onsoctcp" or "olsoctcp" when I get home. Another question: About the first two characters of the connetion type string, What's the difference between "on" and "ol" ? They both stands for "Online", is there any difference between these two?
