Re: (repost) Online and Optical Store

Have you tried Plexus? We used their optical jukeboxes 4 years ago with OnLine 5.x. I believe they should have upgraded products to support OnLine 7.x. BancTec purchased Plexus a while ago. There is another company in Maryland who provides optical drivers for several operating systems (but not Informix optical interface) and it does not cost you a fortune. But I don't remember their name at this point. If Plexus does not meet your requirements, send me a note, I will find it for you. As far as I know, all other optical drivers are costly because they bundle it with their turnkey systems. When it comes to optical jukeboxes and optical drivers, do not expect help from Informix. We used Plexus products 4 years ago. Disappointed with their products (not the optical server though). We tried to get rid of everything from Plexus and asked Informix sales representatives to locate a similar product for us. They could not find a single product (including Plexus) even after they asked their internal technical/marketing departments. Since then, we shifted our effort to file systems on optical jukeboxes, which more products are available. Good luck.
