Hello, Can anybody please tell me how the Informix Server/Database tunning differ in HP UX and Sun Solaris environment. I have heard about following things : -- HP UX has problems with more no. of Shm segments.(more than 3) -- Enabling KAIO creates problem on HP UX 10.20 and Informix 7.24 and prior versions. I'd say you've pretty much got it right; those are the two main problems I've found with HP-UX that aren't present on Solaris. I've also got it in the back of my mind that processor affinity is not supported on HP-UX 10 (but is on 11), but you'd have to check the release notes. Running on HP-UX 10.20, IDS 7.24UC4 for 2 years with KAIO on - no problems so far. Consult HP for necessary KAIO patches. As for SM segments - problems with more than 4 per process. However, Informix port for HP-UX has Resident and initial Virtual segments combined (or shared), so problem would be if 3 segments have been added dynamically at run time. Adjust ONCONFIG virtual memory settings in this case.
