Help, I may be losing my mind ( Shared memory )
Posted in 2006
I think I'm going crazy. I changed the SHMVIRTSIZE, LOCKS AND BUFFERS to take advantage of some new memory.
Today, after reboot, I get these numbers and they make zero sense to me.
1) Why is my first virtual segment 4.2 G , when I have it configured to be 3.1G.
2) Why does the online log say it allocated a new virtual segment of 2.1G right after reboot
-- Why is that new segment 2.1G, when I have SHMADD set for .5G.
3) Why does my resident segment EXACTLY match my Virtual segment ?
These things make no sense to me the way I understand the way it's supposed to work. What am I missing.
Thanks.
Floyd
