Re: Yet, "other" alternatives to DBAccess

i guess it depends on your perspective, SQL analyzer if its like most MS tools, let you browse and drag and drop.. not much modeling or maintenance acknowledged or cared about... if you need to plan long term and "version" backups your "SQL scripts" so you have a record of your changes in case you have to rollback a design update.. Server Studio "has" versioning support built in. if you need to collaborate in a group of five or ten people, an RDS designer, RDBMS modeler, Web page coder, and DBA, System Admin or more.. Power Designer has a collection of tools with versioning support that will work with any ODBC reachable database.. and will work native with more popular vendors.. like Informix. frankly we stopped at PowerArchitect since it supports "logical" and "physical" modeling and takes care of writing the update scripts to files.. which we submit to the DBA for approval.. he just uses his tools and their versioning for his own purposes.. juvenial.. but it works so far. we looked at the SQL "wizards" that come bundled with lots of "web" products like Coldfusion and Dreamweaver, but they have "no" regard for cooperating with other pre-existing databases on the same server.. what ya gonna do? run an instance per machine per application? yeah, right! .... ===> I speak from ignorance, mentally I'm only six years old.
