The Informix techie pointed out (somewhat enthusiastically, if not smuggly) that the Informix data replication is driven off of the Informix logical logs (i.e. is triggered when the data reaches the transaction logging process), and thus in no way negatively affects the performance of the application thread. In contrast, he stated the Oracle data replication is based on triggers, stored procedures on the database, and thus interrupts the application process in mid-stream.
