A setuid root executable that is writable by all! I'd love to find a system you've set up. Also, don't forget some installations need "helper" executables like mkdbsdir and sgidsh that also have special permissions. The correct permissions for all the Informix installed files are contained in the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/productfiles file, where product is online or se or esql or whatever. If you suspect that the installation is hosed in some way re-install and re-brand the product. If that is too big a deal and you don't feel like doing it by hand, you can either: remove the BRAND directive from the etc/productfiles list or mv etc/brand etc/brand.orig and create a new etc/brand as a shell script that does nothing then run the ./installproduct script. You will be prompted for a serial number and key but (appart from number of users checking for the serial number) they are ignored and the install script will just refix all the permissions. > Otherwise, are the permissions on your .dbs directory: > drwxrwx--- xxx informix > > and the files should be > -rwxrwx--- ccc informix Just 660, how can you execute a .dat or .idx file?
