Using C-ISAM files under INFORMIX-SE
Posted in 1995
Melvin I am sure the guys at Informix will argue with me to the cows come home but this is possible. I have set up a site using Multisoft ( a UK accounting package ) which is C-ISAM based. What we did in order to use the Multisoft data in reports was to ask Multisoft for a schema of their database. This schema was then re-created in Informix-SE. The question is then how to link the two together. Our problem was restore times in the event of a crash so what we did was ( Cringe Informix Gurus !! ) We altered the dirpath entry in systables so that the path of the file pointed to the approprite files in the Multisoft directory. Or in other words we fooled Informix into thinking that the location of the data files was not a sub-directory of the current one ( in a standard system ) but rather were the Multisoft files. The site has now been running for 3 years with NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER Hope this helps -- Terry Boyland Verdades: Estes estao simplesmente a nossa interpretacao do mundo
