If you are not going to port to O.., MySQL, Sybase, BlaBlaBla, try to stay away from ODBC/JDBC. It is slow. Direct connections is much faster and less can go wrong. Why go WIN AP<->ODBC<->MS ODBC Layer<->TCP<->UNIX HOST with INF Listener when you can WIN AP<->TCP<->UNIX HOST -----Original Message----- From: Radu Dumitriu [mailto:radu@goldenclick.com] Sent: Friday, 22 December, 2000 12:41 AM To: prasanta@my-deja.com Cc: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Informix Licensing Issue If it's the same software (i.e. does the same thing) this means that is not well written. Rules: 1) if you plan to work with RDBMS only, do not use OR features 2) look from the start to write some wrappers, or use the existent standards, like ODBC or JDBC (java would be a solution for you ...)
