Blocked checkpoint ...

I had a situation today where an underlying symbolic link was missing ...
Engine came up .. put the warning in the online.log ... Eventually the
system became Hung ... waiting on a checkpoint ... ONSPACEDOWN was set to
2 in the onconfig ... Here is the question, after I re-established the
link, would there have been a command where I could force the checkpoint
... Something to tell the engine it was there now? I tried onmode -c,
onmode -l and such .. with no luck. Eventually brought the engine downand back up ..... Any help for a future situation would be appreciated
...
Also, what is the "real World" setting of the ONSPACEDOWN parameter?

The ONDBSPACEDOWN parameter is typically set to 1 (abort) on OLTP and most
DSS systems and often to 0 (mark space down and continue) on DW systems. On
an OLTP system you do not want the server to be online if any disk is
unusable, with the exception of temp dbspaces.
