Hi, Can we setup SDS without using special file-system like IBM's GPFS? If no then what are the options to choose for Sun Solaris. regards, Kamran

If you want to allocate chunks in a filesystem then a cluster filesystem like GPFS is required. Otherwise for raw chunks on a raw disk no filesystem is required generally. > If no > then what are the options to choose for Sun Solaris. Shared disks for use with raw chunks can be implemented with Fibre Channel or iSCSI. > regards, > Kamran > > > *************************************************************************** >**** Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum. -- Andreas Breitfeld; Informix Development Munich IBM Deutschland Research & Development GmbH; Vorsitzender des Aufsichtsrats: Martin Jetter; Geschaeftsfuehrung: Erich Baier; Sitz der Gesellschaft: Boeblingen; Registergericht: Amtsgericht Stuttgart, HRB 243294
SDS only requires that the primary instance's disk chunks can be shared by both servers. If they are to be running on the same physical machine pretty much any storage will do whether filesystem or RAW or COOKED device files. If the SDS server will be on another machine then the chunks must be on a network sharable storage device like an NAS or SAN. Solaris is no impediment to setting up SDS secondary servers. Art Art S.
