Hallo all, I Am loocking after some feed back on the version 7.11 UC1 of the Online engine. ie Any problems Thanks Lars
That version may have been good for its time, but if at all possible, upgrade to 7.24 or 7.30. John Carlson Informix DBA WHSmith USA Lars wrote: > > Hallo all, > I Am loocking after some feed back on the version 7.11 UC1 of the Online > engine. > ie Any problems > Thanks > Lars

All 7.1x versions earlier than 7.14 are not Y2K compliant. All 7.xx versions earlier than 7.21 had serious performance problems. Vers 7.11 was less buggy than 7.12 if that's any consolation (of course the New York City Subway System is also less buggy so that's not saying much). Known (actually remembered) 7.11 problems: Table fragmentation did not work properly for fragmentation expressions containing substrings, datetimes, or built-in functions. When comparing strings in a query to a binary column (integer, float, etc) the optimizer would convert each row's columns to string to compare. All in all the reliable versions are: 7.21UC3 or later (Not Y2K compliant) 7.24UC7 or later 7.30UC7 or later 7.31UC1 or later (Notice no 7.1x versions are listed.) Each of these improved performance and reduced the engine's impact on the overall system compared to earlier versions with 7.30 posting the biggest gains (15-35% faster than 7.24 depending on query mix). V7.31 is brand new so bug reports are sketchy to-date, but early returns are good. Art S. Kagel
