Any experience building unix apps to access a remote odbc database?

Hi, Sorry for the off-topic post, but there are some clever & experienced people in this group who just may be able to help me. My Sun/Solaris and Informix-enriched machine must get some data from a remote Oracle database via ODBC. Not a lot of data, not very often, and, for now, the requirements state only to read data. I've been using esql to develop apps that access my local Informix database, and would like to use something similar to get the data from the remote machine. Does anyone have any experience of this, recommendations for toolkits, or suggestions of better ways to do it? With many thanks, Andy. Andrew Lennard andy@kontron.demon.co.uk

Well I've used ODBC from unix (and 'doze) to talk a remote Unix Informix server wihtout any hassle. Have you looked at wither unixODBC (www.unixODBC.org) or iodbc (ww.iodbc.org IRC)?
