Re: Informix Documents on CD ...Man Pages ?
Posted in 1995
I filled out the survay at the conference and I would like the manuals on CD. One thing I left off the survay and I REALLY WOULD LIKE is man pages for the SQL/4GL and ESQL/C reference section of the manuals. I would like to be able to type "man 4GL input" and get the section from the reference manual. After reading the manuals once, the reference section is what I keep going back to to look things up. And, if these were online it would make life simpler. This could even be implemented like the finderr program. And, this would work on all unix systems without CD's or fancy windows. Years ago, when I had a team of programmers working on a project and one set of manuals I was tempted to scan in the reference sections to get them online, to save the time it took for folks to stop what they were doing and go find who had the manual. Of course we ended up getting more manuals.
