Updating "TEXT" Data Type field

Trying to update a TEXT field. I need to update adding more characters
(maximum 5000).
If I'd have a VARCHAR(254) I could do it this way:
UPDATE Table1 SET Field1 = Field1 || " text and more text toadd"
This concatenation doesn't work in TEXT field, How can I do the same with a
TEXT Field? I'm using IDS2000 on Unix.
Thanks everybody...
You have to write an ESQL program to perform the update. The manual and
sample programs will help. Also look in to my dbcopy utility source for
another example of handling BLOBs.
