The key is to keep your traffic to absolute minimum and therefore use SPL
to most of the work. I don't know about 5 seconds but when carrying out
tests on an ISDN based system where virtually everything was done in SPL
one typical task would take 5 minutes from the PC whereas from a locally
connected PC its under 10 seconds and as a pure dbaccess session with the
SPL called with hard coded parameter the timex was giving under 0.5 second
for usr and sys combined.

The support costs alone might make 120 remote servers unfeasible.

Can't commment on CDR but as central database there wouldn't be the
need:-))
