[2] -> ->I find it hard to believe that informix was meant to run on completely ->stand-alone machines -- as this one seems to act... [1] [1] Although it is a little old-fashioned, there are still places that run a computer with only dumb terminals, not workstations, attached. Stand-alone Informix is meant for this environment. [2] Assuming that: a. You are on a workstation on the same net as the database server, and b. Both computers are UNIX boxes, then one work-around is: a. Start work on the workstation; b. rlogin to the database machine; c. IF you are in an Xwindows or similar environment, and IF the database application starts one or more windows: c1. set DISPLAY on the DB machine to reference your workstation; and c2. run xhost + on your workstation to allow access from the DB machine; d. Start the DB application from the rlogin session. Regards, Alan ___________________________ ______________________| R.
