Whether 'The Dority' works for Informix or not, his point is basically correct. Informix uses a different strategy from Oracle. Oracle employs lots of consultants and tries to supply both the basic software and the final products. This can make it difficult for a 3rd party (eg ISV) to sell Oracle because they are also competing against Oracle staff. Informix takes a more cooperative stance, actively working with ISVs and not selling final products, but the enabling technology. Yes, we do have consultants. Yes, they do help with problems. But they aren't our primary source of revenue. Do I have figures etc to back this up? Not at hand. But that is my understanding, albeit somewhat vaguely expressed, of how Informix works. >[...lots of unread stuff omitted...] Yours, Jonathan Leffler (johnl@informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h>
