connect,disconnect,rollback problem
Posted in 1996
We are runing Informix 7.12 on a server and 6.0 on a client host. We have two hosts on which the primary and the secondary databse servers reside and Informix data replication is turned on. The principle of the Informix data replication is that when the primary database server fails, or is taken off line then the paired secondary server should take over, i.e., switch to On-Line mode. A client attempt to execute any sql statement or attempt to connect to the primary server which failed, should return sqlerror. Now client knows that it should reconnect to the paired server. When the host on which the primary server reside experiences h/w problems and for maintenance reasons must be powered off, a client connected to the primary or trying to connect to the primary server will never return from "connect", "disconnect", "rollback" etc statement. I tried to use SIGALARM to achieve some control over the client behaviour but this does not work. My conclusion was the following: - Informix employs SIGALRM and will overwrite my signal handler, - 6.0 does not have "sqlbreakcallback" which is supposedly implemented in 7.x Did anybody have a similar problem? What I should do to force client to exit from "connect", "disconnect", "rollback" etc statement? Answers and suggestions will be greatly appretiated! Irena Bartkowska irena@bnr.ca (BNR400)
