Assert failed

This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_7097e98a_dabbda2$10de4999 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed Hello friends, I got an assert fail error and at the same time I got the SQL Error no 710 : [710 Table table-name has been dropped, altered, or renamed.] Though the SQL error says table had been altered, dropped or renamed, but we have not altered any table in last 10 days. We also have update statistics medium and update statistics for procedure running every night through cron. As Art had written that Altering a table cannot cause Assert Failure, then what else can cause it? Any clues? System details are : Informix 7.24 UC4, HP UX 10.20, RAID 5, Continuous logical log backup is done. We are planning to upgrade Informix to 7.30 UC8 next weekend. We have done the upgradation on the test box and till now everything seems fine. Applications are yet to be tested. The error portion from the message log and the AF file are attached. -710 error can come to an app that has a prepared statement on a table or procedure which has had stats updated after the prepare but before opening it if the new stats cause the old query plan to become invalid (almost always for stored procedures since the update stats on underlying tables will force the procedure to be recompiled if stats were not updated on it afterward. The assert failure would be a bug worth reporting. Art S.
