Re: Informix coming to Linux, Dump Oracle NOW!

Uhmmm, Before anyone gets into a RDBMS flame war, lets get a few facts out in to the open. Informix hasn't given the go ahead on the port. Informix is 90% to the point of committing to the port. What they need are a few people who are willing to commit to purchasing the ported product. If you are in a position to buy, then contact Informix ASAP. We are not way off in providing the numbers of people willing to purchase Informix on Linux!!! Marco can definately tell you how to run Informix through iBCS and anyone using another RDBMS product this way should consider running a native Informix port! So contact your Informix rep! ASAP! As to Oracle and Apple.... Larry and Steve are buddies because they were/are both visionaries. Phil, had an opprtunity to work with Steve, but declined to do so. (Long story, and not worth repeating.) Oracle doesn't have to port their Database product to Apple for their partnership to be sucessful. Jobs knows how to market hardware, and Larry knows how to market software. Plan on seeing Oracle's NCs and Apple products making inroads in to the business environments. As to Rhaposdy, it too has potential. Web Objects is still the best method of connecting web based applications to relational databases. But enough of my soapbox. Don't discount Apple, and don't discount Oracle. You will get burned everytime. -Mikey Felix Koshy Mathews wrote: > Atif Ahmad Khan wrote: > > > Are you having to hack the SCO distribution of Oracle to run on your Linux > > server? Forget that.
