Gee, I don't know. http://www.informix.com/answers You mean UNIX RE's?
http://www.informix.com/answers SQL has it's own RE syntax.
http://www.informix.com/answers
http://www.informix.com/answers I kind of hope
http://www.informix.com/answers that if I http://www.informix.com/answers
drop enough http://www.informix.com/answers hints some more
http://www.informix.com/answers initial research
http://www.informix.com/answers might take http://www.informix.com/answers
place before http://www.informix.com/answers questions
http://www.informix.com/answers get asked http://www.informix.com/answers on
this http://www.informix.com/answers list...?
Have you even tried the query? What happened? Let me guess: you got error
-201: A syntax error has occurred? I guess that might just mean that thesyntax you suggest is not supported. Perhaps you might try:
SELECT * FROM friend WHERE firstname NOT MATCHES S*'; -- back quotes are notvalid
or
SELECT * FROM friend WHERE firstname NOT LIKE 'S%'; -- back quotes are notvalid
Like it says in the manual. Which can be found at
http://www.informix.com/answers And just to narrow it down, there's one
called, believe it or not: Guide to Syntax.
