oninit processes

To All.....
I am looking at the oninit processes which run in my version 7.3, on UNIX
AIX. The parent process spawned a number of children:
informix 5212 16008 0 14:27:40 - 0:09 oninit -s
informix 11360 16008 0 14:27:44 - 0:15 oninit -s
informix 12936 16008 0 14:27:44 - 0:29 oninit -s
informix 13162 16008 5 14:27:45 - 7:52 oninit -s
informix 13430 16008 0 14:27:44 - 0:42 oninit -s
informix 13684 16008 0 14:27:43 - 0:15 oninit -s
informix 13956 16008 0 14:27:42 - 1:56 oninit -s
informix 14192 16008 0 14:27:44 - 0:12 oninit -s
informix 14468 16008 109 14:27:40 - 788:30 oninit -s
informix 14710 16008 0 14:27:44 - 0:59 oninit -s
informix 14968 16008 1 14:27:45 - 9:02 oninit -s
informix 15224 16008 0 14:27:44 - 0:18 oninit -s
informix 15482 16008 0 14:27:44 - 0:22 oninit -s
informix 16008 1 112 14:27:33 - 708:27 oninit -s
informix 16292 16008 0 14:27:40 - 0:05 oninit -s
informix 16536 16008 114 14:27:40 - 766:40 oninit -s
informix 38658 42080 1 09:26:26 pts/9 0:00 grep oninit
informix 46300 16008 0 14:27:41 - 0:01 oninit -s
It appears that 3 of these processes are doing all the work. Is that
expected ? normal ? adjustable ? Do I now want to spread the processing
to the rest of the kids ?
I would dearly appreciate any feedback, and I thank you all, in advance.
