On OnLine we have found about a doubling in speed of most programs by simply recompiling them so they connect directly to the database. I would expect the same from SE. I wouldn't expect any significant performance improvement on simple selects moving to SE 7.10, but from what I have seen they have upgraded the query optimiser to use distribution data. In that case you may see a much better performance on selecting joined tables and other more complex selects in that better indexes may be chosen. Until SE 5.0 there where significant problems in this area in some special cases. : The situation looks worse when I try to view a table schema thru DBSCHEMA : utility. It takes a lot of time, but really a lot!!!!! that's unbelieveble!! This shouldn't be influenced by sqlrm. It should connect directly and run reasonably fast. : I already ran an UPDATE STATISTICS, and the SQLEXEC environment variable is : set to $INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlrm : : what's going on here? : Anyone has a similar experience? : May I have to run a process in my database for improve performance? : : : Any help is welcome!!
