Emory U. systems moving
Posted in 1994
As I mentioned in a posting earlier this week, a number of systems are being relocated at Emory University. The two Emory systems of interest to this forum are rmy.emory.edu and mathcs.emory.edu. "rmy" is the home system for the Informix mailing list (informix-list). "mathcs" runs the gateway between informix-list and the newsgroup comp.databases.informix, and it holds an anonymous ftp archive that contains a section of Informix-related files. "rmy" is not one of the systems being moved. The physical move of "mathcs" has been completed. It is scheduled to remain up from now on, with possible brief periods of down-time if unforeseen problems come up. The biggie is the move of the entire central campus computing center, which is scheduled to begin as 12:01 AM local time (Eastern US), tomorrow Dec 23. That's midnight tonight for the chronologically challenged. :-) The IT folks here are saying that *worst case*, all systems will be back up as of 7:00 AM Tuesday, Dec 27. I'm hoping that we will remain relatively unaffected by this final move, but you never know. If you post anything between now and Jan 1, you might want to keep a copy of it until you see it come back to you via the mailing list or newsgroup. If you notice any problems that seem to be more than just temporary glitches, please let me know. My response may be a little slower than usual, since our IS office will be closed next week. I will probably check e-mail from time to time, though.
