Repair Table, B-Check, and Tape Device to /dev/null
Posted in 1993
Hi netters, We have recently moved our application from an AT&T 6386 running S.E. to an IBM RS/6000 370 using On-Line. We have an option in the application to Repair tables. B-check was also used when the system was being re-booted to clean-up any problems with the database. My question is how do we do a Repair Table or B-Check with On-Line? Or should we even need to use Repair Table and B-Check with the On-Line Engine? We are also using On-Line on a H.P. 735 for collecting a lot of process data. If we set the the tape device for logs to /dev/null, does this mean we do not have to worry about the logs filling up? Will the engine be able to rollback the current transaction? Any other concerns about setting the tape device to /dev/null? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. ============================================================================ Marty Bland Information Systems Reynolds Automation Center, R-1-8 (804) 281-4485 6605 West Broad Street Internet: gmbland@IndSysC.rmc.com Richmond, Va. 23261-7003 ============================================================================
