If you have USING strings that are repeated often (eg: "mm/dd/yyyy"), you can reduce (but not eliminate) the threat of these errors: REPORT ..... DEFINE dtdstr CHAR(10) ... FORMAT PAGE HEADER IF PAGENO = 1 THEN -- first time in, set USING strings LET dtdstr = "mm/dd/yyyy" END IF ... PRINT ... date_variable USING dtdstr ... PRINT ... another_date_variable USING dtdstr More current versions of 4GL (4.12UD, I think) reduce (johnl may say eliminate, even) this problem. ======================================================================= Dennis J.
