Informix error 425

We're running Solaris 2.6/x86 with Informix 7.30.UC2. I attempted to create another connection method for user via shared memory. Here're the relevant lines added to onconfig and sqlhosts files: DBSERVERNAME pactsdevl DBSERVERALIASES pactsshm NETTYPE tlitcp,2,128,NET NETTYPE onipcshm,1,32,CPU ############ pactsdevl ontlitcp amdd-1 ifmx_tcp pactsshm onipcshm amdd-1 ifmx_shm Instance was re-initialized; user changed INFORMIXSERVER and attempted to run application, but Informix error -425 resulted: -425 Database is currently opened by another user. Another user has opened the requested database in exclusive mode, or you have more than one connection to the database server. Repeat the statement after a short delay or when the database is known to be idle. The database had just been created and no one was accessing it. I suspect the connection method was at fault, but don't know why. Doesn't the engine allow multiple simultaneous connection methods? What am I missing here?
