Hi, I have these license related questions 1. How can you tell how many number of licenses an informix installation has or was installed with ? 2. Is it possible that if you bought 10 licenses for an informix software, you install informix only with a subset e.g. 2 or 4 licenses ? (e.g. if you want to test your applic. such that informix runs out of licenses soon). 3. What is the diff. b/w dev. and runtime license ? Are they one and same ? a) ie. say you invoke 'isql' in parallel in 3 seperate windows, do you consume 3 licenses ? b) Similarly when I compile my embedded esql program, do I consume a dev. license or a runtime license. 4. Is there any online doc. that explains how licensing works ? Thanks much for any info. Please also cc me your reply. -Atiq

Instead it is just illegal to use more than you have bought. >3. What is the diff. b/w dev. and runtime license ? Are they one and > same ? No, dev allows you to compile. > a) ie. say you invoke 'isql' in parallel in 3 seperate windows, > do you consume 3 licenses ? Better check with Informix but I think yes! > b) Similarly when I compile my embedded esql program, do I consume > a dev. license or a runtime license. When you compile it's a dev license >4.
