Remote database connection

Hi I have 2 IDS (7.2) servers. I have R4GL on server1 and have written a program that needs to access data in a database on server2. I have read all the informix docs on remote servers and have configured the servers as recommended (sqlhosts, services etc) When I DBACCESS from server 1 to server 2, I can see server 2 in the connection menu. When I select server 2 it asks for a user name and password (I use informix) but it dosnt connect, it just says running.... at the bottom of the screen (like its trying to connect) and thats it...... I can rlogin from server1 to server2 so OS permissions dont seem to be the problem. I can access server2 locally using informix so informix permissions dont seem to be the problem. WHAT IS MY PROBLEM ??????? WHAT HAVE I MISSED ??????? HELP !!!!

Can you send your sqlhosts file? I suspect something is wrong with transport protocol (i.e. onsoctcp or ontlitcp if you're using Sun machines).
