Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
A developer asked whether .NET OleDB could be used against Informix, hoping to share one set of parameterized SQL between SQL Server and Informix clients. Replies pointed to the native IBM Informix .NET provider shipped with Client SDK 2.81.TC3 and later, noting it isn't installed by default — you must do a custom install and explicitly select the .NET driver. A developerWorks article on the .NET provider and a download link for CSDK were supplied; one poster added that CSDK is free but support for it is chargeable.

We have both SQL server client and Informix client. The ideal solution
will be maintain single set of sql statement for both.
Do you know if .net OleDB library can access InforMix? Or there is a
better solution.
Our current code use dynamic sql with ? as parameter and ODBC
connection. for example "select * from user where userid = ?". there is
no type checking when pass in the parameter.
Thanks

fj,
The Informix Client SDK 2.81TC3 or higher will have .net driver for Informix. You will have to do a custom install and specifically select the .net driver to be installed or the installation will skip it.
Good luck,

Take a look on this article
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/db2/library/techarticle/dm-0510durity/index.html
If you download Client SDK you do not get support included. While
Client SDK is free, support for Client SDK is chargable.
Informix continues to improve its .NET driver with every release of
Client SDK.
