I prefer the standard DBA answer to all questions that begin: How many.... How long .... Should I.... Is it better to..... Two words: IT DEPENDS. Hey, it's the Clown;) The question is not that stupid btw. -Been there done that. I'd say 2-4 hours for copy and 1-5 hours to build indexes (maybe less, maybe more). It's just a wild guess, but better than nothing (for some). > "Obnoxio The Clown" <obnoxio@hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:8iqbpo$f1g$1@news.xmission.com... > > > > From: "Ryan" <radicalbyte@yahoo.com> > > > > > >How long would it take to DBEXPORT/DBIMPORT a 2gb Informix DB (v7) ? > > > > > >Source server is a 200mhz Pentium wth 256mb RAM, destination is a 4 * > > >550mhz > > >Xeon with 1024mb RAM.. > > > > I have a piece of string in my pocket. Tom, I don't consider those questions stupid, either. Just that any answer is not definitive. Useful, usually (nona excluded), but not absolute Doug "Thomas Parsli" <thomas.parsli@startsiden.no> wrote in message news:u2en5gko.fsf@dhcp-d134-67.nextel.no... > "Doug Agnew" <dagnew@charlottepipe.com> writes: > > > I prefer the standard DBA answer to all questions that begin: > > > > How many.... > > How long .... > > Should I.... > > Is it better to..... > > > > > > > > Two words: IT DEPENDS. > > Hey, it's the Clown;) > > The question is not that stupid btw. -Been there done that. > I'd say 2-4 hours for copy and 1-5 hours to build indexes > (maybe less, maybe more). > > It's just a wild guess, but better than nothing (for some). > > > "Obnoxio The Clown" <obnoxio@hotmail.com> wrote in message > > news:8iqbpo$f1g$1@news.xmission.com... > > > > > > From: "Ryan" <radicalbyte@yahoo.com> > > > > > > > >How long would it take to DBEXPORT/DBIMPORT a 2gb Informix DB (v7) ? > > > > > > > >Source server is a 200mhz Pentium wth 256mb RAM, destination is a 4 * > > > >550mhz > > > >Xeon with 1024mb RAM.. > > > > > > I have a piece of string in my pocket.
