Hints to avoid Problems Migrating to 9.4
Posted in 2004
As Madison
wrote it's no real problem to migrate to 9.40 InPlace.
You should be aware that:
No pending transactions should be in the system, so shutdown using
onmode -uy followed by onmdoe -kyAll Logs have to be backed up in the old version except the current one
Replication should be stopped or even dropped beforde migration and
cdrqueues should contain no pending records
All datablades should be unregistered before migration and must be
registered after the migration
You must have plenty of physical log (if this runs short during
migration you have to restore the old version)
You must have plenty of LOCKS because the implicit dummyupdates are
poor written and do not locka tables exclusive
Set LOCKS to at least 4xmax(sysobjstate, syscolumns, sysconstraints)
When you take all thin in consideration you should be able to migrate
freom 7.3x, 9.2x and 9.3x to 9.40 without problems
