Re: Print wide mode

Jan 16 1992 It is possible to print more than 80 columns. If the printer can accept 132 columns then just print 132. If the printer needs an escape sequence sent to print wide mode than send that code first to the printer. An option in reports is right margin x where x is the right margin. Following code shows how I do this. let s132 = "\\033\\133\\077\\063\\150" let s80 = "\\033\\133\\077\\063\\154" report wide_prt() # Report to Printer # define wide_mode char(30) norm_mode char(30) let wide_mode = ASCII 15 --> this is the esc sequence to set a epson to condensed mode let norm_mode = ASCII 18,ASCII 27,ASCII 80 --> This esc sequence resets printer to 80 columns OUTPUT left margin 2 right margin 132 bottom margin 5 top margin 3 FORMAT PAGE HEADER print column 0, wide_mode clipped, column 20, "This is A Test" The above Will print this and everything else condensed ON EVERY ROW report code PAGE TRAILER print column 60,"PAGE ",pageno using "<<<",norm_mode clipped The above Will Reset to 80 columns after report is all finished END REPORT # Report to Screen # define wide_scr char(30) norm_scr char(30) let wide_scr = "\\033\\133\\077\\063\\150" --> Esc Seq to set VT200 to 132 columns let norm_scr = "\\033\\133\\077\\063\\154" --> Esc Seq to set VT200 to 80 columns Note it is possible to use these escape sequences in the report but I set the screen display before calling the report. To do this the commands are CLEAR SCREEN DISPLAY wide_scr or norm_scr Run your screen report It is also possible to send other escape sequences to the printer bold underline etc. Expirement at your own risk. The key is to find the supported escape sequences for your printer. ----------------------------------------------------------- | The opinions expressed are my own and not My Employeers | | | | Jerry Jugovich | | Intergraph Corp | | Mendota Heights Mn | | Phone: (612) 681-4450 | | Mail : jerry@jerry.mendota.ingr.com | -----------------------------------------------------------
