Which planet are you from, then? :-) You clearly haven't been paying attention to Art's rants (and mine!) about the evils of RAID 5... It's all 1 disk. Well, with NT, you just make your dbspaces as OS files, so it doesn't really change anything, does it? >Does anyone have any experience with these things. I had a vision of hell: a big room full of NT servers in RAID 5 configuration. In a little corner was obnoxio in front of an exchange server answering 4 million emails that had nothing but the word 'remove' in the body of the e-mail. ;-) "Obnoxio The Clown" <obnoxio@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:8emgsl$jcr$1@news.xmission.com... > > Which planet are you from, then? :-) > > You clearly haven't been paying attention to Art's rants (and mine!) about > the evils of RAID 5... > > From: Thiel Franky <franky.thiel@INFOHOS.BE> > > > >We have to reinstall a Nt server into RAID 5 situation. > >We use IDS 7.30 TC 5 on NT 4.0. > > > >In the past we had 1 NT server with 4 disks. > > > >Disk 1 (NT + software) > >Disk 2 tables disk 2 + indexes tables disk 4 > >Disk 3 tables disk 3 + indexes tables disk 2 > >Disk 4 tables disk 4 + indexes tables disk 3 > > > >Now the server must be reinstalled : > > > >Disk 1 (NT + software) > >DISK 2 = disk 2 + disk 3 + disk 4 (RAID 5) > > > >In the past I had a sutation where all the tables of one disk were located > >in one dbspace and on that disk. > > > >With my RAID 5, I cannot tell Informix anymore that my data is in > >tablespace > >2 and my indexes are in tablespace 4.
