And what the online.log file contains ?
It could be a number of causes like:
1. An existing shared memory segment
with the same keys as Informix ones (check with ipcs -m)
2. Another process is listening to the TCP port you have
configured for your informix network listener.
Well, it could be other problems too (check your env variables,
owner/group and permissions for your root dbspace chunk device).
