Hi,
the message "Aborted by client." means ... exactly that.
In your case, the client was "ontape". For some reason,
ontape was not able to continue with the backup, and
hence "aborted" it. The Informix server only reported
this fact.
The good news is, that most probably it was not a problem
in the Informix server.
The bad news is, that with ontape being a purely interactive
utility (and not writing to any kind of message log like ON-Bar),
it can be difficult to find out, why ontape could not continue
with the backup. It could have been, that the ontape process
was killed (e.g. with kill -9), in which case it cannot report
anything. It could be, that ontape encountered some sort of
problem and wrote a message to its output/error channel,
in which case something would have appeared on the screen
where ontape was started, or it should be in an output file,
if ontape's output/error channel was redirected to a file.
If no more information about the cause of ontape's failure
can be found ... simply start it again. It may just work. Or
it may encounter the same problem and hopefully say
something about it. If you are running the ontape log
backup somehow in background, make sure that output
and error messages get captured in a file (by redirection).

Another possibility is to include the -v option when invoking ontape. This
option causes additional information to go to the output.
