Please help -- Rolling back triggering stmt and whole transaction

Hello gurus, I have some code as below : begin work; some sql stmts....; update table item ....; commit work; I have an update trigger on the table item. I want to do some validation in the trigger, and based on that I want to rollback everything, the update stmt and also all the stmts between the begin work and commit work. Is it possible to do that. If yes how can I do it. Any kind of help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
