It depends on the version you're running.
If you are running version 7, then it is possible to get very
detailed information on table i/o via the SMI tables:
select dbsname, -- database name
owner, -- table owner
tabname, -- table name
pf_dskreads, -- disk reads
pf_isread, -- row reads
pf_dskwrites, -- disk writes
pf_iswrite, -- row writes
pf_isrwrite, -- row updates
pf_isdelete, -- row deletes
pf_bfcread, -- buffer reads
pf_bfcwrite, -- buffer writes
pf_seqscans -- sequential scans
from sysptntab a,
systabnames b
where a.partnum = b.partnum;
This information is available while the table is being used. Once the
table is not being used, this information is no longer available.
Hope this helps.

DB-Vision for Informix from PLATINUM technology is a performance monitor
for Informix databases that provides this information in graphical and tabular
format. DB-Vision can also track performance history, so that statistics on
table i/o can be analyzed even after the table is no longer being used.
