IDS 7.3 / 4GL Runtime libraries Install Question

I have IDS 7.30.UC5 installed on my HP-UX 10.20 system. I discovered that I need to also have the 4GL runtime libraries installed as well for the application that uses the database. I just received the libraries and would like to install them, but the manual says they should be installed prior to the installation of the IDS. Does anyone know if I need to uninstall the IDS prior to installation of the runtime libraries or can I go ahead and install the runtime libraries and leave the existing install of IDS alone? Backup onconfig files, sqlhosts file and /etc/services. Install the runtime libraries then install IDS over the top again.
