Database only users and ODBC

I have been trying to create users (using the CREATE USER command) for use
with ODBC.
I create /etc/informix/allowed.surrogates
I get the security right (644)
I can load it with "onmode -cache surrogates" with no error messages
I modified my onconfig with "usermapping admin" and restarted the database.
I can use create user :
create user noddy with password "bigears" properties user "<user defined in
surrogates>" and no error messages are shown.
I test that I have a valid ODBC connection for another user.
When I try to connect via ODBC with the noddy user I get an error message
saying there is no such user on the server.
Has anyone tried this before? Is it supposed to work via ODBC? If so, any
ideas what I'm missing?
Any help will be appreciated.
When you say you receive an error saying there's no user on the server...
can you confirm:
1- That you're getting -951 error on the client
2- Is there something written in the server message log?
Regards.
