Art, Is there any issue of running Informix on T-series machine? Which series is observed a better choice for Informix (both for OLTP and OLAP systems), is it X-series, M-series....
So, the T1, T2, & T3 processors are absolutely unsuited to running large tasks like database servers. However, Oracle bought Sun during the development of the T4 series and they seem to be a bit better. There is some indication that Oracle continued to try to make the T5 run Oracle better, so it should also run DB2 and Informix better as well, however, I do not have any experience with systems using that processor series. In general the M* series Ultra Sparc VI, VII, & VIII processors were very good at running databases. Honestly though, I rather like the Intel/AMD x86/64 processor class for Informix running under Linux like the IBM X-series and its competitors. Art Art S.
