ODBC to Virtual Machine

Are there special prerequisites to connect to a virtual machine?
My environment:
Server
VMware ESXi 4.0
Virtual machine:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 5.3 (Tikanga)
Kernel 2.6.18-128.el5 on an x86_64
IDS 11.50.FC1
CSDK 3.50
protocol onsoctcp port 9088
Client
Windows XP
CSDK 2.90.TC6R1
From the client I can ping - telnet - ssh the virtual machine
On the machine itself I can connect, admin databases.
No firewall is running, all ports are wide open.
On the client
setnet32 is correctly configured ( hope so ) as it was a hundred times before.
Result when trying to connect:
Error 25580: System error occurred in network function.
Any idea for a solution?
Thanks,
Umo
No special configuration is needed...
Are you sure you have the Informix listener on the correct IP? Can you check
it with netstat -a?
Regards.

My email works... but I don't check it frequently...

The virtual machine has to bridge its network interface into the host's.
VMware provides the capability.
