We are running V4.0 on SCO ODT 1.1, but your problem sounds familiar. In our /usr/informix/release/MACHNOTESx.x file, the SCO parameter SHMBASE (shared memory base) is mentioned. If an incorrect value for shared memory base is used, you get messages similar to yours. Catch 22 - To the best of our knowledge, SCO UNIX does not have a SHMBASE parameter! Its certainly not in our /etc/conf/cf.d/mtune file, so its not surprising that the support instructions did not help. In our case we found that there was an explicit parameter in the /usr/informix/etc/tbconfig file that was setting SHMBASE. We removed the line and everything worked fine. We reported this to Informix and subsequent revisions of V4.00 did not have the line in the file, so I can't give you the exact details of the tbconfig line to look for. Perhaps the problem has crept back in for the port of V5.0 to SCO.
