***************************************************** KEYWORDS= WORM - ON-LINE/Optical - Document Archiving ***************************************************** I need some help on the following: We'll set-up a network under TCP/IP, with WStations running DOS, PC-TCP and some term emulator, having a server under UNIX with On-Line. The Wstations will work as network terminals. Certains ones will be working at a library, where it is expected that the microfilmation process will be replaced with documents scanning and storing onto WORM discs. The fact is, the WORM must be under direct control of the server, in such a way anyone can access the data across the net, from any location. Well. Then I need to know how can I bring this creature to life. I know I need to mantain the indexes in the HardDisk, separatedly from the data (BLOBs) themselves which will be stored in the WORM disc. Questions: o What bunch of technology should I need? o What path do you suggest I should follow to succesfully solve this defy? o Does it suffice to have only On-Line? o Has anyone tried to solve this kind of problems? ADVICE: I'm out of the 'informix-list', so please E-mail to my own address: rigl@occam.com.ar Thanks in advance, Ricardo. --- +-------------------------+----------------------------------------+ | ////////////////// | Nombre: Ricardo GUIDO LAVALLE | | ////////////////// |Direccion: 6 Nro. 938 P. 19 Of. 3 | | O C C A M | (1900) La Plata - Argentina | | ////////////////// | T.E.: +54-21-4-8455/4-5925 | | ////////////////// +----------------------------------------+ |Ingenieria de Sistemas | rigl@occam.com.ar (atina!occam!rigl)| +-------------------------+----------------------------------------+
