IDS7.30 + Linux Kernel 2.2.10 +onsoctcp ?

I'm running RedHat 6.0 (kernel 2.2.5-15) with IDS 7.30.UC7. I've had the
network down messages when I didn't have INFORMIXSERVER, etc/sqlhosts and I
guess /etc/services in sync. I inadvertently used different names in the
various places.
Here's an entry from my sqlhosts
ids_soc onsoctcp kanu ids_develop
And from /etc/services
ids_develop 5100/tcp #Informix Dynamic Server
And I stuck this in /etc/profile
INFORMIXSERVER=ids_soc
To complete the picture I would check the shared memory settings with
onmonitor or just look in etc/onconfig. In my case the following is set:
DBSERVERNAME ids_soc # Name of default database server
Hope this helps.

Is it possible to connect to an IDS running on Linux (suse 6.1) Kernel
2.2.x
via onsoctcp ?
The only way I get access to the db-server is local via shared memory.
I need to connect to the db-server over the network from other clients
via onsoctcp.
When I try to set up the server with onsoctcp I get the errormsg
"Network down / Cannot connect to network", which doesnt make
to much sense, because the network is running fine on other services.
Even dbaccess or onmonitor cannot reach the network.
Perhaps this belongs to the Kernel-version - I heard, that with Kernel
2.0.36
it should be running, but I have to use 2.2.x for some other reasons.
Any solutions ?
TIA

I can work with both local shared memory and network connections without any problems. Greetings, Joerg
